Revamping Hotel and Embassy has officially begun. The first step is to go through all the NPC entries. In the meantime, here's some screenshots of the minor work I've done with both missions a couple months prior.
Guards in Hotel as well as one agent in Embassy now have a different animation when guarding areas (this animation is used by the FBI agents in Shefferd), and you no longer start Embassy with poison in your inventory. Poison can now be found inside the package where you get the revolver and the garrote. Finally, the mission tips that occasionally pop up in Embassy now only appear on Easy difficulty just like all MoT missions (the same is also true with Removal). |

I recently discovered there's a texture I missed when I found a bug with certain textures not loading if you set your language for non-Unicode programs to a different language (like Russian) in the Control Panel. The texture in question is "Rooms_Ñàmin.dds" and it is used for two room models in Hotel - "numer01_room1.SMF" and "numer01_room2.SMF". I failed to notice this because it didn't show up in the console due to it being buried amongst the order of models materializing in the level - there's a limit to how far up you can go in the console. I only found out because I looked at the models themselves in AG's level editor when I was looking for an easier way to tell the various door models used in Hotel apart.
It's easy to fix this bug yourself. First, find the texture in question in the Textures folder: Rooms_Ñàmin.dds And rename it to: Rooms_Camin.dds Then go into a hex editor and find these models: Models\Levels\Hotel\numer01_room1.SMF Models\Levels\Hotel\numer01_room2.SMF And find the Rooms_Ñàmin.dds entry in each of these models and change it to Rooms_Camin.dds. This texture is used for the fireplaces in those rooms. |
